Effect of intraventricular physostigmine on the renal function of the rabbit

Abstract
Recently evidences have been suggesting that the central nervous system plays an important role in regulation of the excretory functions of the kidney.
Intraventricular physostigmine in dose of 2mg induced diuresis following antiduresis, concomitant with changes of renal plasma flow, glomerular filtration rate and urinary excretion of electrolytes in proportion to urine volume approximately.
Tntraventricular atropine(5)Opg) inhibited the diuretic effect of intraventricular physostigmine while intraventricular regitine Soo,ug blocked the antidiuretic effect of the drug.
From the above observations, it is suggested t at there are adrenergic and cholinergic receptors which might play an important role in the c antral regulatory mechanism of renal function by intraventricular physostigmine.
